Children who were among 77 people rescued from a cell at Whole Bible Believers Church, also known as ‘Ondo Church’, in Ondo West Local Government Area, refused to return home until the police release their pastors.
Some parents who went to Ondo police station were in tears when their children, who were under hypnosis, refused to go home until their pastors were released.
The parents insisted that black magic had been performed on their children and that they had to undergo a full psychological evaluation.
Michael Olohunyomi, the father of one of the victims, revealed that his daughter Priscilla, 21, had been refusing to eat since Saturday because she believed the pastor should be released.
“I was a member of that church and had been there for 32 years,” said the father.
“When Peter Josiah was appointed associate pastor of the church, everything changed. He introduced a harmful heresy,” he added
Wande Oladapo, the brother of a victim, expressed shock that his 40-year-old brother could be hypnotized, saying: “My brother refused to return home after being released on Saturday. He swore not to leave his pastor in the cell unattended.
State police public relations officer Funmilayo Odunlami said efforts to get the victims out of the station failed because they insisted on staying.
The state commissioner for women’s affairs and social development, Princess Bunmi Osadahun, said the state government was working to rehabilitate the victims.
