Raiders win over Cougars convincingly at home | Community


On December 10 against Palmyra, the Raiders suffered their first loss of the season in a 63-60 overtime loss. Mead shot just 37 percent from the field in the game and was passed 40-27 by the Panthers.

Pickworth started the game with a quick roster on a Couch steal that gave the Raiders a 4-0 lead. At the end of the quarter, Mead was left behind when Hebenstreit knocked down two threes to tie the game at 15-15.

The Raiders managed to take a 30-21 advantage in the second thanks to layups from Luke and AJ Carritt. Palmyra’s five-point run to finish second made it 30-26 at halftime.

Luke Carritt had a strong third quarter for the Raiders logging on two threes in the frame. This helped propel Mead to a 44-38 lead heading into fourth.

In the final quarter, the Panthers made a furious comeback and managed to take a three-point lead ultimately at 54-51. Couch managed to tie the game and send him into overtime with a three with under 20 seconds left.

Palmyra took the lead 63-58 with nine seconds left in overtime. Pickworth reduced the deficit to one possession for the Raiders with a driving layup, but that’s as close as they would get.

Luke Carrit finished with 16 points and Pickworth had 14 points and three rebounds. Couch had ten points, while Hebenstreit scored nine, LaCroix finished with five, AJ Carritt scored four and Branden Koranda scored two.
